Curing using precisely targeted energy

While the GCP Glass Fill and Seal cannot be cured with conventional composite curing light, it can be cured with specifically directed high power energy, enabling thermocure without any damage to pulpal tissues.. The light was developed especially by GCP Dental and is an integral part of the Glass Carbomer™ Tech. The GCP CarboLED CL-02 thermo-cure light enables excellent results quickly. GCP Fill or Seal and the Crown and Bridge cement absorb the energy completely and safely. The targeted energy is converted into an extremely strong, durable and definitive restoration.

The light radiates its energy in a straight column directly into the restoration. It should be placed directly on the restoration to be cured and held absolutely still. See the explanation of the touchdown technique on the right hand side of this page.

The battery design enables the light to maintain its output for the 60-90 seconds illumination generally required for thermocure of larger molar restorations.

Universal light for use with practically all restorative products

With the fast increasing popularity GCP Glass Carbomer™ restoratives tere was an increasing demand from dentists for a universal light. GCP Dental responded by developing a light that is programmed to cure both glass ionomer and glass carbomer™ as well as composites. The GCP CarboLED CL-02 is therefore unique and suitable for every modern dental practice.

Equipped for long-term, intensive usage.

The CarboLED CL-02 is made of a solid silver-enriched aluminium alloy. The surface is anodised, which makes it extremely strong and scratch-resistant. The robust design, together with the transparent light conductor, ensures that the electronics, including the light itself, are not exposed to thermal overload. The light is lightweight, has practical feedback functions, a perfectly ergonomic shape and is comfortable in the hand.

ThermoCURE

The CarboLED light was specially developed for thermal curing to optimise the performance of GCP Glass Carbomer™ products. Comand set thermo-curing based on high-energy power. Use the « touchdown technique » described in more detail in Quick Start instructions shown on the right side of this page . This technique can also be used on glass ionomers.

Composite curing

In view of the different kinds of composites we advise you to follow the instructions provided by the supplier or manufacturer of the restorative material. If in doubt, please contact or consult the website of the composite supplier or manufacturer.

Simple to use and reliable

The light is wireless and operated by just three buttons. The light has various protective features such as an LED thermal cut-out (« HH ») and automatic shut-off if the battery is low (« bL »). The battery level can also be verified at all times.

Touchdown technique

The transfer of energy in a straight column, when the end of the light is placed directly on the restoration, is fast and highly effective. This thermocure procedure performed directly on the restoration optimises the properties of GCP Glass Carbomer™ Tech. It is important that the light is held in contact with the restoration. The procedure should be repeated for larger restorations treating the mesial and distal aspects separately. This technique can also be used on glass ionomers. See the Quick Start shown on the right hand side of this page.

GCP CarboLED Lamp

Explanation touchdown technique

  • GCP Glass Fill

Shape GCP restorative material with instruments coated with GCP Gloss.

  • GCP Glass Fill

Switch on GCP CarboLED and set time for 30 secs (See CarboLED getting started instruction). Place tip onto the GCP restorative so that it is touching. The “touch-down technique”. This direct contact is essential to transfer heat. Larger restorations covering a wide surface area may require to repeat the thermocure procedure to cover the complete surface.

  • GCP Glass Fill

The thermocure procedure will require 2 x 30 secs minimum thermocure. Only use GCP CarboLED for this purpose. With larger restorations, repeat procedure.

  • GCP Glass Fill

Repeat on adjacent surface as required.Apply thermocure to next position on the restoration surface.

  • GCP Glass Fill

The TOUCH-DOWN TECHNIQUE with the light guide in contact with the restorative surface is essential for effective THERMOCURE.

  • GCP Glass Fill

After Thermocure, test hardness by running a sharp probe over the material surface. Repeat thermocure with a further 30 seconds if scratching sound cannot be made.

  • GCP Glass Fill

Finally shape and polish using standard rotary abrasive points or discs.

  • GCP Glass Fill

    Treat each restoration separately.

  • GCP Glass Fill

    Avoid distance during thermocure.

  • GCP Glass Fill

    Avoid movement during thermocure.
